Hello,
If you found your way here, great! Before I go into all the important things I'll be taking care of while in Haiti, I need to give a BIG THANKS to Old Post Elementary in Oswego for your awesome month of fund raising! All the supplies and money you raised will be able to help many children at the orphanage. I hope to post lots of pictures for you to see. Isn't Mrs. Komes (with I'm sure help from other staff and SCOOP) the best?! I'm a little partial to her since we are related.
Thanks also to St. Mary in Plano for helping out with the collection of supplies as well. We are taking about 350 pounds of supplies on our trip. It's a lot to say the least. We are taking so much, that I am bringing my two weeks of clothes in a small carry on just so we can bring more supplies in the big suitcases.
Finally, thanks to the students at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia. The hygiene packs and supplies were invaluable. I think we are taking around 75 of the bags.
You should all be proud of your efforts, the orphans in Haiti will love all of it!
You honestly cannot appreciate how much stuff we really have. The suitcases ended up being a little more expensive that we had originally planned so the money raised will definitely help out.
When we start to unpack them, I will show you more details of what was inside. There are also two sewing machines that somewhere in that mess.
Ok, that's all for now. Stay tuned for more news from Haiti!
